David G. Wood holds a B.A. in Journalism from the University of Washington.He continues to work as a contract lobbyist in Olympia on a wide range of issues since 1979. Before that, he was a lobbyist for United Airlines in WashingtonDC and a deputy mayor of Seattle. A developmental disabilities advocate and lobbyist for 20 years, he got involved with Washington Families United because of growing awareness that Child Protective Services social workers were using mild mental retardation as the excuse to take children from parents they deemed "unfit". "The Division of Children and Family Services at DSHS is out of control," says Wood.
